Letter to the Editor

June 6, 2013

By Hal M. Polk, Starkville

Dear Editor:

Included is an observation related to the recent Mayoral election here in Starkville.

It was interesting to note that Congressman Greg Harper can find so little to do in Washington, even with the myriad problems facing this country, that he had the time to become involved in Starkville politics. The same can be said about Governor Phil Bryant in regards to solving problems that exist in Mississippi. I believe that their actions will locally come back to bite them in the proverbial rear end in future elections. At the very least their recent endorsements must suggest that their "big brother"influence is not necessarily needed here in Starkville and their political influence is no doubt not as strong as the might have thought. I did contact Mr. Harper's office on my opinion regarding his involvement and requested a response. You guessed it, none was received.
