CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Mississippi State offense started the season out with 21 hits against Portland.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs had a flashback.
No. 12 (Collegiate Baseball) MSU pounded out 20 hits and beat the No. 6 Virginia Cavaliers 11-6 at Davenport Field in the first game of the Charlottesville Super Regional.
"Obviously, we are really proud of our kids," State head coach John Cohen. "(Saturday) we played a very, very good Virginia club."
The Bulldogs (47-18) and Cavaliers (50-11) meet today at 6 p.m. on ESPNU with a trip to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb., on the line for MSU.
