Radio broadcaster Jim Ellis has called some of the biggest moments in Mississippi State baseball history.
Whether it was Kenny Kurtz shutting the door on Murray State 8-6 to help the Bulldogs secure the 1979 trip to the College World Series, or the Alex Detz throw from third to first base to beat Virginia 6-5 and clinch the latest trip to Omaha, Neb., Ellis has been there to describe the action.
This will be MSU's ninth appearance in the College World Series and it will be the eighth time for Ellis, who is in his 35th season of announcing baseball games.
