If you can't bring the fans to Omaha, why not bring Omaha to the fans?
At least, that was the thought in the minds of Mississippi State University athletics and facilities associates when they decided to open up the stadium at Dudy Noble Field for the first game of the College World Series championship Monday night.
Senior associate athletic director Scott Weatherby said the idea was to give those unable to make the trip to Omaha the baseball field experience with their fellow Bulldog fans. The stadium opened to fans at 6 p.m., free of charge, just prior to the WCBI pre-game show, and those loyal to the Bulldogs turned out in high spirits for the event.
