Youth baseball has been in full swing the past couple of weeks.
Starkville teams have seen a good bit of success at the state level, but those lucky enough will test their luck at World Series all around the southeast.
One Starkville area team, Longhorns Baseball, will be heading to Gulf Shores, Ala. to compete in the United States Speciality Sports Association 10-year old AA World Series this week.
The Longhorns feature seven boys from Starkville, three from Columbus and one from Houston.
Starkville qualified for the World Series by placing third in a Global Sport Qualifier in Brandon and fifth in the State tournament in Flowood.
"We were right on the borderline of being a AAA team," Longhorn coach Keith Lawrence said. "We didn't win the State tournament, but before that, we won our last two tournaments."
