Board to override veto on Spruill

July 23, 2013

Three weeks after the Starkville Board of Aldermen initially voted to terminate Chief Adminstrative Officer Lynn Spruill's employment with the city, the board is expected to revisit the matter one last time at tonight's board meeting.

Ward 1 Alderman Ben Carver said while the matter did not appear on the meeting agenda, he would call for a vote to override a veto Mayor Parker Wiseman issued in response to the board's July 2 decision to fire Spruill. The veto cited Spruill's experience, qualifications and diligence as a defense for keeping her job.
