Competition is over and the Starkville Americans All-Stars have returned home.
After claiming the 8-year-old Dizzy Dean South State Championship a couple weeks back, the team has spent the last few days in Southaven as participants in the World Series.
“It was a great experience for the coaches and the kids,” Starkville American coach Charlie Williamson said. “Our main goal going in was to win the State championship. We reached that goal. We wanted the kids to experience the World Series and they had a blast up there playing baseball.”
In order to reach the World Series, the Americans posted a perfect 5-0 record throughout the South State Tournament. The team then proceeded to go 3-3 in Southaven so for its All-Star careers, Starkville was 8-3, a record that Williamson says “you can’t really complain about.”
