Highway 182 work begins

July 25, 2013

After a year of planning, the Mississippi Department of Transportation began work Wednesday on Highway 182 in Starkville.

Kenny Foote, public information officer for the Mississippi Department of Transportation, said construction on the $2.8 million state-funded project would extend from Stark Road to Mississippi Boulevard, by the Thad Cochran Research Park. Crews will mill off the old asphalt before cleaning and sealing concrete pavement joints, sealing the asphalt lift, replacing and repairing the curb at School Street, and installing curbed islands. In addition, new sidewalks will be added to the north side of Hwy. 182, from Washington Street to Hwy. 389.
