MSU's Townsend sets example for defensive backs

August 3, 2013

Townsend

If you happen to be watching the cornerbacks at Mississippi State's open practices, you may see a coach doing pushups when he does something wrong.
First-year cornerbacks coach Deshea Townsend was running through drills with his defensive backs on Saturday morning, when all of a sudden he drops to the ground and starts doing pushups.
He was throwing footballs to his players in an interception-type drill. A couple of his throws were off the mark and he decided to punish himself.
"We always talk about getting spoiled," Townsend said with a smile. "I threw a couple of bad ones (Saturday), so I had to do a couple of pushups."
