EMCC's Bernd grows to love game of hoops

When Drew Bernd headed south, he just had one sport on his mind.
The Wacupaca, Wis., native enrolled at Mississippi State with the intentions of sticking with the Professional Golf Management major.
"My best sport was golf," Bernd said. "I was a pretty good high school golfer. We went to state as a team. I originally came down (to MSU) to be in the PGM program, try to maybe walk on to the golf team, then maybe go and be a golf professional at some point."
After a year into it, Bernd decided golf wasn't for him and put his concentration into another sport.
"After my freshman year, I decided that's not what I wanted to do, so I changed my major," Bernd said. "Somehow I got lucky with some timing and the guys on staff at Mississippi State. I went up there and was able to be a (basketball) manager."
