Board member Eric Heiselt proposed at the Starkville School District Board of Trustees' meeting Tuesday that the district create a "brain trust" to let stakeholders determine the financial viability of toddler care slated for discontinuation at Emerson Family Center, but the proposal died for lack of a second.
In previous meetings, the board voted to discontinue admission to Emerson's child care program for children ages 0-2, allowing current 2-year-olds to phase through the program and letting children under 2 in only if their parents paid an extra $200 per month, if they lived in district boundaries and if they already had siblings enrolled at Emerson.
