City tax hike on board agenda

August 20, 2013

Starkville aldermen will consider formally issuing intent to raise citizens’ ad valorem taxes by 2.78 mils during the board’s recess meeting at 5:30 p.m. today at City Hall.

By voting this evening to move forward with the tax increase and the city’s proposed 2013-14 budget, aldermen will initiate a process that will include public notices and scheduled public hearings, all of which will culminate with the board approving a final budget in mid September.
