Starkville Academy loses 35-3 decision on road

MERIDIAN – Johnathan Burton hit a 44-yard field goal for the Starkville Academy Volunteers in the first half, but it was not nearly enough as the homestanding Lamar School Raiders earned a 35-3 victory on Friday night.
Burton's field goal cut a 21-0 lead to 21-3 with 25 seconds remaining in the first half. The Vols saw the Raiders put up two more touchdowns to take the opening game of the season with ease.
