MACON – Jamie Mitchell has done several big things as the head coach of the Starkville High School Yellowjackets.
He has taken SHS to the Class 5A State championship two years in a row and won the title last season.
Yet there was one big thing he wanted to do this season, and that was to beat Noxubee County.
This year it happened as the Class 6A Yellowjackets took care of business as they shut out the Class 4A Tigers 17-0 Friday night at Tiger Stadium.
"We have never beaten those guys since I've been at Starkville," Mitchell said. "This is awesome."
The Tigers beat the Yellowjackets 14-7 in Starkville in 2010, 33-20 in Macon in 2011 and beat SHS 29-8 last year in the season opener.
