SMITH COLUMN: Recogntion for Starkville's Outlaw fitting

The honor and recognition was very much deserved.
For a person who has not forgotten where he came from and has given back to his community on several occasions, Travis Outlaw had some love sent back in his direction over the weekend.
Outlaw, the former Starkville High School basketball player and  forward for the Sacramento Kings, was honored on Friday night to kick off what turned out to be Travis Outlaw Weekend and the multi-purpose building was renamed the Travis Outlaw Center.
Most athletes leave their hometown and hardly give it a second thought. Others return every once in a while, but most move on to another life in another place.
That's not the case with Outlaw.
Outlaw is very visible in Starkville.
