Production not enough in MSU volleyball loss
Mississippi Stateâs volleyball team lost 3-1, on Saturday to Southeast Missouri in four sets.
The Bulldogs are now 2-2 for the season.
Despite the loss, sophomore Taylor Scott notched a double-double with 19 kills and 15 digs. Joining her teammate in the double-double category was freshman Kimmy Gardiner who picked up 15 kills and 21 digs.
Scott and Gardiner were part of a trio of Bulldogs with double-digit kills totals as Brooke Sassin provided 12 kills to round out the group.
With so many players posting high numbers, coach Jenny Hazelwood says Saturdayâs loss was not about productions, but rather it all comes down to the team learning how to play multiple matches in a short period of time.
âWeâve talked about it a lot with freshmen figuring out how to play a couple matches and do well, then turn around the next day and still play at a high level,â Hazelwood said. âWe gave up a lot of points. We had more kills in both matches, more digs in both matches. We were just giving up too many points. At this level, you canât do that so that is just something we have to learn as a young team and really clean up our side.â
