Injury to Hughes complicates MSU secondary

September 3, 2013

Life in the secondary for Mississippi State, just got a little bit more complicated.
The Bulldogs lost junior safety Jay Hughes for the season after he suffered an Achilles injury in week one against Oklahoma State.
For his replacement, MSU defensive coordinator Geoff Collins has several options. Junior Dee Arrington, sophomore Kendrick Market and redshirt freshman Deonte Evans got some snaps last week.
They are the options to take over for Hughes.
"They played really well," Collins said. "A couple of times they got to do some of the adjustments too. They played well. Deonte Evans got in there and did some good things too. The future is bright with some of the young guys."
