Caution a must for all motorists when crossing train tracks

Your paper recently published an article regarding a railroad crossing traffic signal in Starkville on South Jackson Street near Hogan Street where motorists found red lights flashing and the bells ringing after a storm. As part of the article several local officials gave comment.

The Starkville Police Department Captain was correct when he stated that, “Even though there hasn’t been (a train) in years, you never know.” I want to remind your readers that while there is no need for service through Starkville at this time, these tracks are still active. We strive for motorists to live by the fact that, “Anytime is train time!”
