Bike rally could return to Sturgis

September 4, 2013

Representatives from the Sturgis motorcycle rally board met with the Sturgis Board of Aldermen Tuesday to start a relaunch process for the rally, and rally representatives said they found the aldermen more amicable and open to negotiation than past city officials.

Starting in 2011, the Sturgis Board of Aldermen voted down contract proposals from the rally board each year, citing concerns that the rally board might fail to pay its end of the contract, causing the city to lose money. The rally was canceled as a result.
