Maben aldermen meet briefly on budget

September 5, 2013

Maben Board of Aldermen made minor adjustments to the city's 2013-14 budget, planned a special meeting at 5 p.m. Sept. 10 to finalize the budget, and pushed several items to October on the grounds that they required legal counsel that was unavailable during its meeting Tuesday at City Hall.

Mayor Larry Pruitt said there was a public hearing on the city's budget at 5 p.m. before the main meeting at 5:30, and because most of the budget discussion took place in the public hearing, the main meeting lasted less than half an hour. During the budget discussion, he said, the only real change compared with last year's budget concerned an addition to W.O. Shivers Park.
