It has the longest aircraft runway east of the Mississippi River. It has a history that predates World War II. It trains about one-third of the pilots for the U.S. Air Force, and it's only about 30 miles away from Starkville.
Columbus Air Force Base sent Col. Jim Sears, commander of the Air Force's 14th Flying Training Wing, to the Starkville Country Club Monday to share these statistics and more with Starkville Rotary Club.
