On September, 14, 2013 Erma Faye Tallent-Smith was called to her heavenly home.
Erma Faye was born to Henry Daniel and Clemmie Barron Tallent, on June 2, 1937 in Bruce.
Erma Faye was married to Rodney Smith on October 5, 1956. She was employed by Olivet Nazarene College in Bourbannais, Ill., as Head Chef. They chose to live in Kankakee, Ill., and enjoyed many years of raising their three sons. To Erma Faye her family was everything, she was the youngest of seven children all who preceded her in death.
In 1986 Rodney & Erma Faye Smith moved to the Houston, Texas area where their sons had moved several years before. This is where she enjoyed many years of being with her sons, seeing them get married and thoroughly enjoyed seeing her grandchildren grow up.
The best word to describe Erma Faye is kind. She never had a bad word to say about anyone, loved by so many. The nurses at her nursing home thought so highly of her, she was always spoken of as their favorite patient.
Rodney Smith, her husband, preceded her in death. She is survived by sons, Steve and his wife Margaret, Greg and his wife Sheryl, and Bill and his wife Michelle. Also, four granddaughters: Anita, Alyssa, Shelby and Kristin, as well as one great-grandson, Wesley. Many nephews, nieces and close friends.
Viewing will be held at Metcalf Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas on Sunday, Sept. 22nd from 2-4 p.m. Burial services will be held at the Houston National Cemetery on Monday, Sept 23rd at 1 p.m.
