Bobcats blank Titans 37-0
CRAWFORD – One word could describe the playing conditions around the state Friday night – sloppy.
At East Oktibbeha’s home opener against the Sebastopol Bobcats, the poor conditions troubled the Titans throughout the game, contributing to their 37-0 loss.
There was a weather delay in pre-game that caused kickoff to be put off for 20 minutes.
Despite an early drive downfield to open the first quarter, the Titans failed to convert on a fourth down deep in Sebastopol territory. Two plays later, junior tailback Colton Tharp broke away for an 87-yard touchdown run to put the Bobcats ahead 7-0 with 6:52 left in the first quarter.
After fumbling on their next drive at their own 45-yard line, the Titans got the ball back a few plays later as freshman Mario Thomas recovered a Sebastopol fumble at the 21-yard line. However, the East Oktibbeha offense couldn’t come up with a score, punting the ball back to Sebastopol to end the first quarter.
“(In) the first few drives, we came off pretty good on offense,” said East Oktibbeha head coach John Davis. “Some of our guys got hurt and shaken up, and then we went down on the scoreboard. Once we got down, it just became hard to come back.”
