Lady Jackets defeat Wave in four sets of volleyball

September 24, 2013

Moving up to Class 6A this season placed the Starkville High volleyball team among some of the strongest competition.
On Tuesday night, the Lady Yellowjackets faced off with one of those competitors and when the match concluded, it was clear Starkville belonged. After dropping the first set to Tupelo 18-25, the Lady Jackets rebounded to win the next three sets (25-14, 25-18, 27-25) to take the match.
“I am really proud of them because we started out in a hole and we just kept reiterating every point counts and they were able to battle back and get the win,” Starkville coach Lauren Love said. “It shows them the level we can play at. It also gives a point for us to work at every day. We can’t let ourselves fall back in practice or any drill or any match. We need to maintain a consistent level of play and this match shows the level we can play at.”
