SMITH COLUMN: Fans put up with yawners in week four

September 24, 2013

Smith

There were some games that were considered definite yawners in week four of the college football season.
With finals scores like 76-0, 72-0, 77-7, 70-7 and yes even 62-7, it caused fans to have a hard time staying interested for the entire game.
Not many Mississippi State fans are going to complain about being able to beat Troy by the margin of the last score of those listed in the previous paragraph. After losing a 21-9 decision to the Trojans in 2001 and squeaking out 11-8 and 30-24 wins in the next two meetings, the Bulldogs certainly had a right to enjoy the 55-point victory this time.
However, there weren't many State fans still hanging around Davis Wade Stadium at the end to see the final seconds tick off the jumbotron clock.
