East Webster rallies to beat rival Eupora

September 26, 2013

The phrase never give up is often thrown around in sports.
On Thursday evening, it was true for the East Webster Lady Wolverine softball team.
After trailing Eupora for the majority of the game, East Webster scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead and ultimately get the 10-6 victory.
“We preach seven innings,” East Webster coach Lee Berryhill said. “We preach that effort and we just compete. Early in this game, I felt like our girls wanted to win so bad that they were afraid to lose. They were playing not to lose instead of to win. They were playing uptight and not doing what we normally do. It just took later in the game for us to get a spark to kind of ease that pressure off and get going.”
