Kick by Cox lifts SA Vols

September 26, 2013

It's not often when it comes down to a field goal to win a junior high football game.
That was the case at Starkville Academy Thursday night.
The Volunteers moved into position to attempt a field goal in the closing seconds of a matchup against Heritage Academy and Sam Cox split the uprights on a 27-yarder to give SA a 17-14 victory.
"He's worked and worked and worked all year long," Starkville Academy assistant coach Andrew Pylate said. "He's gotten better since the beginning until now. To see his work pay off in such a big way. It's an amazing feeling for that kid and for us as well. It proves when you work hard good things will happen for you."
