COLUMBUS – The Starkville Yellowjackets gained all the momentum at the end of first half.
The Yellowjackets rode that momentum as they outscored Class 6A, Region 2 Columbus 28-6 in the second half on the way to a 35-13 victory Friday night at Falcon Field.
Starkville took over at their own 36-yard line with 1:11 left in the opening half. The Jackets marched down the field and capped off the drive with a Princeton Jones 15-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 7-7 as each team headed to their respective locker rooms.
"Monumental," SHS head coach Jamie Mitchell said of his team's score at the end of the first half. "I thought the touchdown was huge."
