French Camp survives early year gauntlet

September 29, 2013

Only one word can describe the beginning of French Camp Academy’s season. That word is gauntlet.
Not many people would schedule Class 3A Choctaw County, Class 2A Eupora, Class 3A Kemper County and strong Class A opponent Noxapater back-to-back-to-back-to-back to start a campaign. The Panthers did just that and ultimately they suffered from the choice.
As the team started off 0-4, coach Nathan Wright found himself in the position of striving to keep his players’ spirits up. No one would have blamed the team had they gotten a little down, but that is not French Camp Academy’s style.
