Rick Ray was expecting to see a good opening practice.
The Mississippi State men's basketball coach had his wish to come true. He described the Bulldogs' first practice of 30 in 42 days as "spirited."
"I wanted guys to come in with some exuberance about practice," Ray said. "I want them excited about the first day of practice because it's a long haul, like a marathon. If the guys come in there first day kind of dreading practice, then you have no chance. The guys came in with a lot of excitement and a lot of enthusiasm."
