Tyler Russell has been one of the best quarterbacks Mississippi State has ever seen.
On Saturday night, he took another step in that direction.
The senior signal caller threw for two touchdowns in a 59-26 loss to No. 10 LSU to give him 39 in his career, the most ever by a Bulldog quarterback.
"I thought he did good," MSU head coach Dan Mullen said of Russell who got his first playing time since week one.Â
Russell, who didn't start the game, found Jameon Lewis for a 20-yard passing score on his first series in the second quarter.
He hit a streaking De'Runnya Wilson for a 59-yard passing score to give the Bulldogs a 23-21 lead midway through the second quarter.
Derrick Taite, who played at MSU from 1993-96, was the record holder with 38-career touchdown passes.
He finished the night completing 7-of-11 passes for 146 yards and the two scores.Â
