Police seeking robbery suspect

Starkville Police Department is asking the public for help in searching for Joe Mitchell Gillespie.

The department described Gillespie as a 26-year-old, 6-6, 280-pound black male.

Gillespie is wanted for alleged connection to a Tuesday night robbery at the Chevron convenience store at 311 Highway 12. According to a press release, at 11:30 p.m., Gillespie approached the victim, who was sitting in his vehicle, and asked for money. He reportedly reached into the victim’s car, grabbed a wallet and ran away.

Gillespie’s last known residence was 141 Josey Avenue in Starkville.
