Geologic Map Day honors past, present

This statewide geologic map is one of several available for free at the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality's website for free. MDEQ is promoting the availability of these maps for Geologic Map Day. (Photo courtesy MDEQ)

Today, online services like Google, Bing and Mapquest offer bird's eye views of terrain, roadways, rivers, buildings and more, but it takes more than a bird's eye view to discover the geology beneath the surface.
