Some kickers don't emphasize the importance of using the weight room to their advantage.
Those thoughts don't enter the mind of East Webster sophomore Tyler Cosby.
Cosby has steadily gotten better as a kicker for the Wolverines and he points to time spent in the weight room as a reason why.
"It's pretty crucial and helps me kick farther," Cosby said. "Overall it helps me stay in shape."
He has been kicking for East Webster since the 8th grade and is in his third year as a starter.
In the Class 2A classification where finding a quality kicker can be difficult at times, the Wolverines found someone they could count on in Cosby.
East Webster coach Doug Wilson said Cosby's progress goes hand in hand with the way he takes care of business.
"We are fortunate to have him and he keeps getting better each year," Wilson said. "He works hard in the weight room. That's all he does is kick and lift weights. He plays golf, but that's the only other thing he does other than kick.
"We looking forward and hope he will keep improving and we know he will because he works so hard in the weight room and trying to get better. He goes to camps in the summer and he's a valuable tool to have."
