MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACK: Vols show don't-give-up spirit

October 27, 2013

Edwards

If there is one thing you can say about Starkville Academy's football team, it is that the Volunteers do not give up.
Starkville Academy proved that Friday night as it continued to battle despite being down 14-0 to Heritage Academy. That drive to compete is what has stood out about the young Vols all season long.
The challenges were stacked against SA from the very beginning. After starting sophomore Houston Clark all season at quarterback, the Vols were forced to go with their third string guy after Clark suffered an early injury.
Colt Chrestman may have been new to the field and may only be a sophomore, but Friday night he displayed wisdom far beyond his age and experience level. Managing the offense was probably Chrestman’s biggest strength as Starkville Academy took advantage of its run game.
