MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACK: SHS on brink of region title

October 27, 2013

Wait

Starkville is one win away from doing of what was maybe once believed to be the unthinkable.
If the Yellowjackets (7-2, 5-0) beat Warren Central Friday night, they win Class 6A, Region 2. The 2012 Class 5A State champions have not had a drop off since moving to 6A.
After beating Madison Central 48-28 to take control of its own destiny two weeks ago, SHS knocked off Murrah on the road this past Friday night to take one step closer.
The Jackets looked good against the Mustangs, especially on offense.
Senior quarterback Princeton Jones has been a pleasant surprise for head coach Princeton Jones.
"Heck no. There's no way," Mitchell said of if he though the Jackets would be undefeated in division play with Jones at quarterback. "He just keeps amazing. We would not be here without him. I just hope he can continue doing it and I know he will."
