It didn't take long after his name was called that Maleke Bell started making an impact on the Starkville High School defensive line.
Bell went straight to the varsity level as a freshman last season for the Yellowjackets and didn't play on the 9th grade team.
He responded with 10 tackles in 10 games for the SHS varsity, including three tackles for loss.
Even with doubling his production to 20 tackles and eight tackles for loss so far in his sophomore season, Bell is still looking to take his game to a higher level for the Jackets.
"I actually played harder (as a freshman) because it was something I was working for, but this year I've been complacent," Bell said. "I haven't played to my full potential yet, but it's starting to work back into motion as the season goes by.
