There are stretches in Southeastern Conference football that are just brutal.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs are about to start one of those stretches.
The coach Dan Mullen-led Bulldogs (4-3, 1-2) travel to Columbia, S.C., this Saturday to take on the No. 14 South Carolina Gamecocks (6-2, 4-2).
"We're excited about this game… I know our guys are," Mullen said on Wednesday's SEC teleconference. "Obviously, (it's a) tough going on the road, but one of the things our guys love here (is) you get the opportunity to play the best teams in the country week in and week out. South Carolina's obviously one of those top national teams, not just this year, but over the last two to three years."
