Jackets edged by Vikings 12-9

November 2, 2013

VICKSBURG – The Starkville Yellowjackets saw their hopes at a Class 6A, Region 2 championship dashed Friday night with a last-second field goal by Warren Central.
Jade Pollock nailed a 31-yard attempt with less than 10 seconds remaining as the homestanding Vikings defeated the Jackets 12-9.
Starkville saw their records fall to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the region. It was the first division loss for the Jackets dating back to the 2010 season.
Warren Central began the game with a 62-yard drive on 10 plays on its first possession to get points. The extra point was blocked and the Vikings went up 6-0. That was the only score of the first quarter.
