There was a scenario that existed for the Hebron Christian Eagles on Friday night that if they had lost by a certain score, they would be left out of the postseason.
Even with taking a 3-0 mark into a road game against Calhoun Academy, everything the Eagles had done could have been for nothing with a bad outing in Calhoun City.
Hebron fell behind in the second half to Calhoun Academy, but didn't stay down and won a 20-14 decision to capture Mississippi Association of Coaches District 7-A in 8-man football.
The Eagles finished undefeated in a district that included Calhoun Academy, Central Academy, Kemper Academy and Strider Academy.
Hebron coach David Foster was happy to see his team respond with so much on the line.
"It was a tough game," Foster said. "We played good defense the whole game and it was 0-0 in the first half. We made some adjustments at halftime and did some different things and got the offense rolling a little bit. (Calhoun Academy) did as well by scoring a couple of times. I'm real proud of the guys. We just had a good effort."
