State championship on the line for EMCC Saturday

November 7, 2013

Buddy Stephens isn't naive.
The East Mississippi Community College head football coach knows his team is thinking about what's at stake on Saturday.
The No. 2 Lions (10-0) host the No. 4 Jones County Junior College Bobcats (9-1) in the MACJC State championship game.
With a win, EMCC would more than likely play for a national championship.
"I want to get it out in the open," Stephens said of telling his team what's at stake. "They know inside (that) everything is on the line. You've got to know what's on the line."
The Lions are playing for their third-straight state title in the last five years. They won it in 2009 and 2011. EMCC also won the national title in 2011.
