SPD seeks suspects in store theft

November 8, 2013

Starkville Police Department is searching for a suspect in connection with a reported vehicular assault and shoplifting incident at the Dollar General on Highway 182.

According to an SPD press release, at approximately 5:53 p.m. on Saturday a Dollar General employee reportedly spotted 66-year-old Johnny Lasster, of Starkville, and an unidentified black female shoplifting items. An employee reportedly stopped the female at the door and asked her to return the merchandise she and Lasster allegedly stole.

Lasster and the female then reportedly quickly exited the store and entered a maroon Buick LaSabre with chipped paint and white wall tires.

The release says the Dollar General employee exited the store and attempted to get the LaSabre’s tag number when the two suspects hit her with the vehicle before fleeing the scene.

A warrant for aggravated assault with a vehicle has been issued for Lasster’s arrest. Lasster’s last known residence is 141 Pecan Acres in Starkville.

Police are asking anyone with information on Lasster’s whereabouts to contact the department at 662-323-4131 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
