SMITH COLUMN: Stephens has done great job at EMCC

November 10, 2013

The East Mississippi Community College football coach has been a good "Buddy" over the last six years.
In the six years that Buddy Stephens has been the coach of the Lions, he has built a dynasty.
East Mississippi won its third MACJC State championship in five years with a 61-24 victory over Jones Junior College on Saturday at Sullivan-Windham Field.
Following Saturday's win, it was announced that Stephens was chosen MACJC Coach of the Year and it is much deserved.
Stephens has enjoyed quite a run in Scooba.
The Lions are 55-10 overall and 6-3 in playoff games under Stephens.
EMCC won immediately when Stephens stepped onto campus in 2008. The Lions had an 8-2 record that season and finished ranked 10th in the final NJCAA poll.
