SMITH COLUMN: Coaches have teams in state title hunt again

November 13, 2013

There are some great high school football coaches located all across the state of Mississippi.
Two of them can be found within 30 miles of each other right here in our coverage area.
Jamie Mitchell of Starkville High School and Junior Graham of Eupora High School have kept their respective programs in the state championship hunt over the last few seasons.
After claiming the Class 5A State title last season, Mitchell and the Yellowjackets jumped into Class 6A and find themselves back in the playoffs.
Starkville had to be disappointed not to have captured a region crown for the third-straight season, but it did finish with a 6-1 mark in Class 6A, Region 2 to claim the No. 2 seed and at least one home game for the postseason.
