Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen was in a joking mood Monday afternoon during his weekly press conference.
The fifth-year head coach opened his talk with the media by rotating his arm and saying, "I had a pretty night throwing the ball the other night. I was loosening the arm up and getting myself ready to go."
True freshman defensive lineman Chris Jones even joked that he told Mullen to put him in the backfield because he could be "Cam Newton Jr."
Although Mullen had a smile on his face, when it comes to the MSU quarterback situation, it is no joking matter.
MSU's top two signal callers, senior Tyler Russell and sophomore Dak Prescott, are questionable for Saturday's game against the Razorbacks of Arkansas in Little Rock, Ark.
"Everybody's day-to-day," Mullen said. "We have to see what's going on with those guys as the week goes on. They came in and they're getting treatments (Monday). We don't practice until (this) afternoon, so we'll see where everybody is at that point."
If Russell and Prescott are unable to go, true freshman Damian Williams will be getting his first-career start.
