Outlaw begins SPD chief duty

November 26, 2013

John Outlaw never expected coming out of retirement to serve as acting police chief for Starkville Police Department, but he’s determined to make the best that he can of the situation.

Outlaw, the department’s former assistant police chief, retired in 2010 after 31 years of service. He returned to the department after the Starkville Board of Alderman placed Starkville Police Chief David Lindley on paid administrative leave following a called meeting on Friday. He assumed the interim chief role on Monday after he was sworn in.
