French Camp developing reputation for making state

December 2, 2013

JACKSON – French Camp has not always been the first school associated with state championship appearances in football, but that culture is changing.
Last year the Panthers played their way into the Class A State championship game and this year they are right back in that position.
“A couple years ago if anybody mentioned state championship and French Camp in the same sentence, they would just laugh,” French Camp coach Nathan Wright said at Monday's Mississippi High School Activities Association press conference. “I can remember my second year at French Camp getting all the kids this shirt that says 'one player wins the game, one team the championship.' I remember even our community folks poking fun at us for wearing it so to see our kids rise up, our community rise up and have an opportunity to play on this stage two years in a row is humbling.”
