SMITH COLUMN: Liberty Bowl has interest in Bulldogs

December 8, 2013

Smith

The Liberty Bowl made it very clear down the stretch of the season that the Mississippi State Bulldogs were on its radar.
Scouts from the Memphis-based NCAA postseason bowl attended MSU's games in Little Rock, Ark., against Arkansas and in Starkville for the Egg Bowl against Ole Miss, both overtime victories for the Bulldogs.
That doesn't necessarily mean that MSU will definitely be offered an invitation to the Liberty Bowl when the bids are made official later tonight, but all indications seem to point to that happening.
Even though there's a ton of speculation that starts once a program becomes bowl eligible, it appears that the Bulldogs are already preparing for the short trip across the Tennessee state line for the Liberty Bowl.
