SCOOBA – There has never been a national championship in football decided in the state of Mississippi.
That all changes today.
No. 2 East Mississippi (11-0) plays No. 1 Georgia Military (11-0) at Biloxi Indians Stadium in Biloxi in the NJCAA national championship game.
"It's important for the state of Mississippi to have an opportunity to win on a national level on state soil," EMCC head coach Buddy Stephens said. "The bowl brings that capability to our league. It also brings a tremendous amount of exposure to our league. It's going to bring a lot of exposure to the Gulf Coast."
Stephens, an Alabama native, has called Mississippi home for several years now. He understands how big this is for his program and for the Magnolia State.
