The Commission on Starkville Consolidated School District Structure met Tuesday morning to attempt finalizing most of the information needed for its report to the Mississippi legislature.

The commission was created earlier in the year by House Bill 716, which mandates that the Starkville and Oktibbeha County school districts merge in July 2015. Commissioners decided early on in the information-gathering process that they wanted to submit a report to the legislature as early in the 2014 legislative session as possible. HB 716 established a March 15 deadline for the commission’s report, but commissioners believe that an earlier submission to the legislature could allow for more consideration, and ultimately, a more favorable outcome in the consolidation process.
